Pike Road Schools Mental Wellness Program

Pike Road Schools has implemented a Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports for the Mental Wellness Program Plan. This system of supports identifies interventions, supports, and strategies that can be implemented in Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III in support of mental wellness. In the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports for the Mental Wellness Program Plan there are strategies and supports that are identified for each tier. Additionally, there is an evaluation of the implementation of interventions, strategies, and supports that assist in determining the need to transition from one tier to the next. Key objectives of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports for the PRS Mental Wellness Program Plan include providing a systematic approach to support for mental wellness; providing a structured plan for supporting mental wellness in efforts of supporting each school’s Alabama Continuous Improvement Plan; and identifying interventions, supports, and structures that are applicable district-wide for mental wellness and well-being.

2022-23 Annual Notification Regarding School-Provided or Sponsored Mental Health Services for Students Under 14 Years of Age

Pike Road Schools has shared the 2022-23 Annual Notification Regarding School-Provided or Sponsored Mental Health Services for Students Under 14 Years of Age. This notification explains that Under Alabama law, no student under the age of fourteen may participate in ongoing counseling services including, but not limited to, mental health services, unless: (1) the student’s parent or legal guardian has submitted a written opt-in granting permission for the student to participate or (2) there is an imminent threat to the health of the student or others. This is a requirement for students who are under the age of 14.

Additionally, Pike Road Schools has shared the Opt-in Form which provides parents an opportunity to choose which services their student may participate in. Opting in does not mean that the parent or guardian is signing up or registering for any services. If mental health services or ongoing school counseling services are recommended, opting in provides Pike Roads Schools permission to proceed with connecting the student with services.
