PRES Behavior Expectations & Resources

Caring Community-No Bullying

At Pike Road Elementary, we have four school norms that all behavior expectations can be tied to:

     - Contribution
     - Honor
     - Ownership
     - Quality

Examples:
I contribute my best effort and my best self within the digital learning environment.
I honor myself, my space and others digitally.
I own the choices I make, my learning, and the impact I have on others digitally.
I commit to quality in everything I digitally.
I understand the expectations of using this device in and outside of school.
I can effectively use the digital tools I am expected to and feel empowered to explore, create, and learn with my device.
The focus in my classroom is always on the learning and not on the task, tool, or technology being used.

These norms are explicitly taught by all lead Learners and reviewed throughout the school year. Many guidance lessons are taught in all classes that reinforce what each of these things looks like here at school and in our community and also promote problem solving.

Many lessons will cover dealing with unexpected behavior of others, understanding the difference between unwanted behaviors and bullying, and how to handle these situations. Of course, we take bullying very seriously, want students to report it immediately to the Lead Learner they are with and it will be investigated and addressed. If you would like to see more information for adults about these topics and how we teach about it in school, click here.

Social Emotional Learning
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important kind of learning that goes on in elementary school. Helping students to develop a sense of self, learning to identify and manage their emotions, to cooperate and to solve problems collaboratively is what SEL is all about. Most of the school guidance programs and lessons cover SEL. The following is a list of books that can be used to help with social emotional learning with all learners.
